National Industrial Lumber Company began in 1909. Robert D. Hoag purchased the assets of the company in 1936. The company remains family owned. Highlights of our history: 1936 Robert Hoag purchased the assets of West Elizabeth Lumber Company 1947 William Hoag, Robert Hoag's son, President. The company focus shifted to exclusively industrial wood products used in steel plants and manufactures in the Pittsburgh area. 1957 Sylvania Wood Preserving division was established as one of Koppers Co. first Wolmanized treating facilities in the US. This established the company as a wholesale lumber company with lumber dealers in the tri-state area surrounding Pittsburgh. 1963 Expansion North Jackson, Ohio 1965 Purchased assets of Erie Lumber Company. 1967 Opened two additional treating facilities. North Carolina, a captive treating facility and a company owed plant in Columbus, Ohio which served wholesale and industrial customers in central Ohio. 1973 Dale Sharett, President and COO of the Company 1985 Expansion - Built new treating plant Fombell, PA 1989 Sold Sylvania Wood Preserving to Quality Wood Preserving. 1993 Expansion Lorain, Ohio 11 1995 Mike Hoag, President and COO of the Company. 1995 Expanded re-manufacturing facility at North Jackson, Ohio to serve industrial customers with pallet and creating lumber. 1996 Expansion - Gary, Indiana to serve industrial customers in Chicago area. 1999 Began distribution of Fiber Cement Siding and Trim "James Hardie" 2000 Expansion - Heath, Ohio to serve wholesale and industrial customers in Central Ohio. 2001 Began offering the markets custom prefinished wood and composite products. Purchased assets of Stainwood Products 2002 Expansion - Amma, West Virginia 2003 Expansion -Built Heat Treating Kiln at North Jackson facility for IPPC export. 2006 James Smith, President of NILCO, Mike Hoag , CEO of NILCO 2006 Began distribution of PVC Trim "Versatex" 2007 Open Bluwood treating facility 2007 Establish Point2Point Logistics LLC to improve delivery services. 2007 Purchased assets of Weyerhaeuser Louisville, Kentucky 2008 Awarded" LP One Distributorship" Midwest Region. 2009 Company name change "NILCO"(National Industrial Lumber Company, Stainwood Products, West Elizabeth Lumber, Erie Lumber) 2010 Purchase assets of North Pacific Lumber Landisville, PA 2010 Expansion Indianapolis, IN 2011 Began distribution of composite decking and hand rail. "Trex" 2011 Acquisition of Canfield Manufacturing Co., a quality industrial processor, fabricator and converter of hardwood and softwood lumber |
